A George II carved giltwood wall mirror
circa 1755
the upright mirror plate within a border of long and short C-scrolls with ruffled outer edges, the sides with garlands of fruit, flowers and leaves issuing from foliate scrolls, the pierced cresting with C-scrolls and pendant leaves, the corners with sprays of leaves and flowers and surmounted by a finely carved ho-ho bird with outspread wings, the pierced apron similarly ornamented with C-scrolls with ruffled edges and foliate scrolls
