An early gilt table clock with later iron movement, German, dated 1582

the gilt-copper and gilt-brass case engraved on one side with the dial calibrated from I to IIX and 13 to 24 set on a strapwork decorated surround, the rear with a well engraved scene of a hunt progressing across a rural farmyard viewed through perspectively correct arched architectural doorways, square-section steel corner pillars with gilt capitals, the sides with glazed panels within similar doorways, the scale-pierced domed cresting within four ball finials and containing the bells, surmounted by a finely engraved ogee upper section decorated with flowers below a draped canopy,  with turned ball finial, the bell plate dated 1582, the later iron movement with ball turned pillars fixed with square nuts, plain spring barrels connected to the wheel trains by gut lines running on smooth drums attached to both great  wheels, verge escapement with concealed pendulum, the strike with outside countwheel sounding the hours on a bell and with passing strike on a second bell at the half hour
