Catalogue Note

The sitter was the daughter of the Reverend William Stackhouse, of Trehane, Cornwall.  On 5th March 1771 she married as his first wife, Jonathan Rashleigh, the third son of Jonathan Rashleigh.  He was a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and Rector of Silverton, Devon.
