Catalogue Note
The sitter was the daughter of Robert Moubray of Castlelaw, Midlothian, and his wife Catherine Lind. She married Robert Boyd, a Glasgow merchant. Her father owned land at Castlelaw near Edinburgh and by 1745 had replaced the old farmhouse with a new house called The Bush House. On his death his property passed to his elder daughter Jean, wife of Archibald Trotter.
