Catalogue Note
Muller made a tour of the continent in 1834 in the company of his fellow painter, George Arthur Fripp. Having spent nearly two months in Venice, Muller arrived in Florence on 27th November, but had departed for Rome by the end of the month. Solly records that Muller was absorbed by the Pitti Palace and the Uffizi and that there was little time for sketching in those few days. However, 'A large Picture of Florence' is recorded among his 'Principal Oil-Pictures'.
