Catalogue Note
The Lilburn Tower forms part of Dunstanburgh Castle which lies on a spectacular headland on the coast of Northumberland, between the villages of Craster and Embleton. The castle is the largest in Northumberland and was erected in 1313 by the Earl of Lancaster. It had fallen into ruin by the middle of the 17th century.
