A Black Stone Pillar, Eastern India, possibly Bihar , circa 8th/9th Century

The fragmentary pillar carved on all four sides, the lower register carved on each face with a scrolling floral design, the upper register depicting deities and animals each inset within a circular niche, one roundel including a rare and unusual composition of three flying hamsa.
