after the famille noir example, modelled with a Chinaman flanked by two rectangular mounted inkwells with glass liners, all on a mounted famille noir- style base decorated with prunus branches around three shaped medallions enclosing birds set in a rocky landscape
Catalogue Note
As Kangxi famille noir objects became highly collectible in the last quarter of the 19th century, the Samson factory started producing pieces in the style, mainly for export purposes around Europe and North America.
