Description

each covered urn with a pierced domed lid with berried knop, the urn with a frieze of dancing maidens upon a fluted socle, the pedestal mounted on three sides with masks of Mercury, the stepped base cast with leaf tips and raised on bun feet.

Catalogue Note

A nearly identical pair of brûle parfums with two handles are in the Pilaster room at Pavlovsk and is illustrated in A. Kuchumov, Pavlovsk Palace & Park, Leningrad, 1975, p.248, pl.201. Another pair was sold, Sotheby's, New York, October 22, 2005, lot 100.
