Catalogue Note

Stiletto is known to be a design rebel. The foundation of his Design Hospital makes his attitude clear as its purpose is the 'infatiguable research' to find 'a suitable remedy against good design.' At the same time he explains that furniture should be of clear structures, industrially sensible, functionably 'lengthbywidthbyspine', robust, solid and batch-produced. He finds it easiest to fulfil these premises when using everyday consumer goods. For him re-design is less connected to recycling and closer to re-birthing as design is the soul and character and not just packaging. Another example of this chair is in the Kestner Museum in Hannover.
