the finely-cast figure seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus pedestal, the hands held with the thumb and forefinger together in dharmachakra mudra, the gesture of teaching, wearing an elaborate dhoti, its loose folds falling over the crossed-legs in undulous folds, the bare torso adorned with beaded pendant jewellery chains, bejewelled bangles and armlets, flanked by his two attributes the sacred book and sword resting on large lotus buds on slender leafy vines, the calm and serene face defined by down-cast eyes and gentle features, punctuated by a pair of large hoop earrings and an elaborate five-pronged crown, the hair tied in a tight curling topknot with loose strands falling over the shoulders, the underside engraved with a visravajra with the yin-yang symbol to its centre
