of rectangular section with slightly globular rounded sides flanked by a pair of scrolling handles, supported by four scrolling legs, decorated overall in cloisonné enamels, to each side of the main body with stylised lotus blooms and angular archaistic designs surrounded by a keyfret, all beneath ruyi-shaped heads, the neck similarly decorated with archaistic designs between bands of stylised lotus lappets, the rim with a keyfret, the stepped cover similarly decorated with archaistic designs between bands of stylised lotus lappets, the rim with a keyfret, the stepped cover similarly decorated with scrolling archaistic designs below a pierced gilt-metal band of lotus blooms on meandering leafy stems, and further pendant lappets, surmounted by a Buddhist lion finial, the beast displaying a ferocious facial expression, its gaping jaws clutching a trailing ribbon falling to a ball held under its paw, with its bushy tail standing high
