Description

stoutly potted of baluster form with generous rounded sides, the slightly tapered ovoid body resting on a straight foot and rising to a waisted neck and trumpet mouth, the exterior evenly applied with a rich copper-red glaze, the interior and base glazed white, the base inscribed with the six-character seal mark in underglaze-blue

A similiar vase from the collection of Bo Ewert was included in the exhibition Östasiatisk Keramik ur med. dr Bo Ewers samling, Rohsska Konstslöjdmuseet, Göteburg, 1971, cat.no.48, and sold in our London rooms, 25th July 1973, lot 80.
