Catalogue Note
Doucai bowls of this design are extremely rare, although the motif of bats and the shou characters can be found on Yongzheng birthday dishes, see one illustrated in Rose Kerr, Chinese Ceramics, London, 1986, pl. 86, from the Victoria and Albert Museum collection.
