Description

the jar of globular form, finely carved with a main band of a sinuous five-clawed dragon and a phoenix with long billowing tail feathers in mutual pursuit amid ruyi-cloud scrolls and above crested waves, divided by jutting rocks issuing stems of lotus and lingzhi fungus, and ruyi-head clouds bearing a medallion containing one of the characters shou (longevity) and lu (prosperity), the base incised and inscribed in gilt with the six-character mark; the cover with a similar dragon and phoenix band, with the knop forming the centre of a stylised flower
