A similar vase is illustrated in Suzanne G. Valenstein, A Handbook of Chinese Ceramics, New York, 1975, pl. 159; another was included in the exhibition Chinese Ceramics, The S. C. Ko Tianminlou Collection, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong, 1987, cat. no.60; and a third in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, is illustrated in Blue-and-White Ware of the Ch’ing Dynasty, Book II, Hong Kong, 1967, pl. 4.

The shape of this vessel is based on a 13th century Islamic metal form, first translated by Chinese potters during the 15th century.  For the Ming prototype of this blue and white vase, see a ewer illustrated in J. Pope, Chinese Porcelains from the Ardebil Shrine, Washington, 1966, pl. 54 (lower right).
