Description
the globular lower bulb gently curving to a narrow waist, the slender upper bulb rising to a cylindrical neck, flanked with elegant 'S'-shaped handles with ruyi-head terminals, the waist finely-moulded with petal lappet borders issuing from a central raised band, covered overall with an even olive-green glaze thinning at the raised edges to a golden-yellow (pierced and carved wood stand)

A Qianlong vase of this form is illustrated in Regina Krahl, Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyantang Collection, vol.2, London, 1994, pl. 938; and another in the Jingdezhen Museum is included in Keitokuchin jiki, Kyoto, 1982, p. 87. Compare a similar Qianlong vase, from the British Rail Pension Fund, sold in these rooms, 16th May 1989, lot 55 and another, sold in these rooms 31st October 2004, lot 216.
