the octagonal bowl cut with oval panels painted, gilt and 'silvered' with birds, insects and flowers within scrollwork, above bands of studs heightened in gilding and an everted foot with scalloped rim, rosette-cut base

According to G.Höltl, Das Bõhmische Glas 1700-1950, Vol.ll, p.91, fig.111, the Chrysolith-lead glass-composition was first produced by the Harrach Glasshouse between 1830 to 1840 after they experimented with uranium oxide as a colouring addition to the mixture.
