of `Lady Mary Wortley Montagu' type, painted in the Giles workshop, each painted with three panels of fancy birds, one also with smaller panels enclosing flowers, inside trelliswork and foliate frames in ciselé gilding, each with a central panel of flowers, against a scale-blue ground
Catalogue Note
These plates are painted with two of the seven related designs associated with Lady Mary Wortley Montagu and identified by G.Coke, In Search of James Giles. Her association with the patterns can only have come through her descendants, as she died several years before their manufacture.
