Description

  • crowned CT mongram and 78 in underglaze-blue
  • 23.5cm., 9 1/4 in.
modelled by Konrad Link, the standing violin player wearing a large black hat with a pipe stuck in the front, a puce cape, white shirt, yellow apron and green breeches, the bagpipe-player seated on an upturned barrel, wearing a soft hat with an iron-red feather, a shirt with blue and iron-red stripes and purple flowerheads and puce breeches, between them a boy playing the triangle and a seated girl drinking from a tankard, the grassy base edged with scrollwork heightened in gilding

Catalogue Note

Prior to the abidication of Grand Duke Friedrich II of Baden in 1918, this group formed part of the Porcelain Cabinet in the western Corps de Logis, in the apartments of Grand Duchess Luise of Baden, Princess of Prussia (1838-1923) in the Grand Ducal Residence, Karlsruhe.
