Description

  • 14cm., 5½in.
modelled by J.J. Kaendler, standing on a low plinth playing goat bagpipes, a hound seated behind his legs

Catalogue Note

Most similar groups seem to be based on a higher pedestal with scroll corners, such as the ones in the Klemperer collection, see Ludwig Schnorr von Carolsfeld, pl.50, no. 606 and the Untermeyer Collection, see Yvonne Hackenbrock, pl.57, fig.104. A group on a low plinth mounted as a candlestick was sold at Sotheby's Monte Carlo, 22 May 1980, lot 36.
