This figure is based on an engraving depicting the 17th century Paris comedian, Julien Bedeau, of the Hôtel de Borgogne as Jodelet, the Mezzetin of the French Comedy. A similar figure in the Dr. Ernst Schneider Collection, Schloß Lustheim, is illustrated by R. Rückert, Meissener Porzellan, no.919.
