Catalogue Note
Little is known of J.D.Imberton other than that he worked for the Paris decorating company of Bucan and Duponthieu from 1882, exhibited at the Paris Exposition, 1878, and designed for Appert Frères in Clichy. His style of enamelling - in the Persian manner - is very similar to that of the better-known Philippe-Joseph Brocard, who also exhibited in Paris at the expositions and was a greater influence on the young Emile Gallé.
