An impressive and rare pair of Lobmeyr enamelled and gilt two-handled 'Persian-style' vases Vienna, circa 1878

probably designed by Schmoranz and Machytka, of turquoise-tint, each ovoid shouldered form painted and gilt with wide bands of formal geometric scroll and stylised flowers flanking narrow bands of arabic inscriptions, above a broad band of lattice and florettes, the spreading foot with further inscriptions and leaf scroll, the applied clear glass loop handles enriched with gilding
