A collection of 89 plates only, folio (22 x 16-1/2 in.; 559 x 419 mm), all likely proof impressions. Scattered soiling and staining, severe on only a few plates, small ink stain at fore-edge of last 50 plates, first and last plates especially soiled with some marginal fraying and repair. Modern gilt-panelled maroon morocco.

Catalogue Note

An impressive selection of botanical engravings from one of the rarest of all fine flower books. The publishing history of this massive work spanned more than a century, and even large selections of plates are uncommon on the market. The plates are by Robert and Abraham Bosse.
