Catalogue Note

First edition. One of 15 copies. "No copy of this pamphlet has ever been located"  (Joshi).  "The Materialist Today" appeared in Coates's magazine Driftwind, October 1926.  The 1,200 word essay is a brief exposition of materialist metaphysics and ethics.  According to Coates's "Check List of Publications of Driftwind Press," this pamphlet was "not for sale."  The pamphlet is not listed in Spink's inventory of Lovecraft's library and Joshi concludes "it is likely that none of the 15 copies of the pamphlet survives."
