Catalogue Note

first edition. In preparing this work, Gould visited numerous collections in continental Europe but did not travel to America until 1857. Nevertheless, his research was extensive and resulted in the addition of some twenty-four species to the eleven American partridges previously recorded. It was Gould's only work dealing with North American birds.
