In 8s (8 1/2 x 6 3/4 in.; 216 x 172 mm). Frontispiece and 173 text illustrations by E. W. Kemble, photogravure plate of a portrait bust by Karl Gerhardt (BAL state 1), the title-page is a cancel with the copyright date 1884 on verso (BAL state 2); a few marginal spots.  Publisher's green pictorial cloth stamped in gilt and black, peach-colored endpapers; faint white spot on front cover near "H" in Huckleberry, a few spots on the lower cover, 2 small tears to spine, head of spine frayed with minor losses, offsetting to front endpapers.
