Hatch", minister of Foreign Affairs, embossed red-papered seal, engraved armorial crest at top margin; formerly folded, separated at top fold, offset from seal in top margin.

an official document from the uncertain period between the overthrow of the monarchy and annexation.
A passport issued the year after the overthrow and before the new government could print official forms, showing the royal crest in the top margin and printed phrases like "His Majesty's" and "Kingdom" replaced in pen-and-ink with "Provisional Government."
The recipient was the son-in-law of Heinrich Paul Friedrich Isenberg (1837-1903) whose daughter Dora married Hans in 1883. Hans was pastor of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lihue, Kauai.
