Bi-folium (10  1/4  x 5  1/2  in.; 260 x 140 mm).  Royal arms printed in color; some staining, including glue stains.

Catalogue Note

Menu for a sumptous breakfast given by King Kalakaua, the bon vivant known in Hawai'i as the Merrie Monarch.  The breakfast, given in the Iolani Palace, included fruits, three kinds of fish, an hors d'oeuvre, three broiled meats, three vegetables, two kinds of game, shrimp curry, chicken salad, omlettes, ice cream, and liqueurs. 

The menu also lists the musical program for the breakfast, played by the Royal Hawaiian Military Band, which included selections from Verdi, Donizetti, and others.
