Bill of Sale for a ¼ portion of the Bark Charles W. Morgan by the estate of Edward M. Robinson late of New York to Joseph Wing of New Bedford. New Bedford, Massachusetts: 15 July 1867



Folio, printed document with manuscript accomplishment, 3 pages, docketing on verso, signed by the executors “Henry A. Darling, Abner H. Davis” and others, engraved vignette of ship under sail, papered notary seals.

Catalogue Note

Built in 1841 at the yard of Jethro and Zachariah Hillman in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the Charles W. Morgan still exists today at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut and is now a National Historic Landmark. Robinson had acquired the ship in 1849.

The document certifies that the ship has two decks and three masts, giving her length, breadth and depth. Her weight is noted at 313 tons.
