Catalogue Note

A spectacular panoramic view of Kailua by Miss Thurston.  Although the identity of Miss Thurston has not been verified, there is speculation that this could be Eliza Thurston, the Australian artist, who could have been in Hawaii in the 1830's.  Her husband was a commercial traveller who died in New Jersey in 1847.  After his death she emigrated to Sydney.
