Description

  • A polychrome figure of the young Madonna annunciata
the Virgin with head downcast and hands clasped in prayer

Catalogue Note

The present figure can be compared to a Tuscan figure of a female angel in the Museo Civico, Turin, dating to the mid 16th century. Like that figure, the present figure would have been dressed in fabric. The sweet dignity and grace of the present figure also recall the earlier Sienese master Francesco di Valdambrino (1363-1435).
