Catalogue Note
St Florian was an Austrian soldier-martyr saint who lived in the 4th Century. Part of his legend is that he miraculously put out the flames of a burning building, or in some versions of the story a whole city, with the water from a single bucket. He was a popular patron in Germany and Austria.
