Catalogue Note

This fragment would have originally have formed part of a candlestick foot and possibly symbolizes the conquest of Virtue over Vice.  Originally the eyes of the figures would probably have been inlaid with beads of black glass. For related pieces see Falke & Meyer figs 89 and 90.
