This good quality and abundantly decorated meuble d'appui with its central moulded marquetry panel and its flower-head filled trellis parquetry side panels is a nineteenth century interpretation after the two famous commodes executed in 1778 by Jean-Henri Riesener for the cabinet de retraite of King Louis XVI at the Chateâu de Fontainebleau.
