Catalogue Note
After the death of Auguste Cain in 1894, the founding of his sculptures was taken over by the firm of Susse frères in Paris. They edited most of his sculptures, with exception of the monumental pieces, which were edited by founders as Barbedienne and Thiebaut. In the late 19th century catalogue of Susse frères, the sculpture now on sale could be ordered as number 24, Coq Français Chantant, height 30cm, for 180 French francs.
