Catalogue Note
The pewtersmith, T.F.Pilz, was made a master in Freiberg near Dresden on 1st June 1778. He died in 1822 (see E.Hintze, Die Deutschen Zinngiesser und ihre Marken, vol. 1, p.108). Hintze records an enamelled and engraved tankard with Saxon armorials, dated 1806, in the Kunstgewerbemuseum, Dresden.
