18.5-cm wide oval skeletonized brass chapter ring with Roman numerals and outside five minute marking, very rare pierced steel hands which retract and extend automatically along the oval centre, the seconds indicated by a retrograde hand against two engraved brass sectors numbered 0-60 and 60-0, painted brass spandrels showing angels, movement with Y-shaped plates, semi annular pinwheel escapement with single pallet engaging directly with the rod of the steel suspended pendulum with heavy brass bob, Japanned case with shaped top and scroll sides, shaped door with gilt figures, animals and buildings on a black lacquer ground, shaped base with raised moulded panel on a flat plinth, weights lacking
