In May of this year, Jason Rhoades showed the work of Jose Maria Cano at his studio 'The Black Pussy” in Los Angeles. For the show, Cano composed various sonnets in counter-tenor, the high male voice sung either natural or falsetto. Cano then painted the musical sheets as large canvases in his signature encaustic style. During the opening of the show, the various sonnets were performed by Cano in front of the paintings.
