Conceived in 1988, this work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist and a letter from the artist to Hubert Winter regarding the conception of this piece.

This work is recorded in the artist's archives under number 586.

Weiner offers the following truths to the installation of his work:

1. The artist may construct the piece.
2. The piece may be fabricated.
3. The piece need not be built.

Each being equal and consistent with the intent of the artist the decision as to condition rests with the receiver upon the occasion of receivership.

Lawrence Weiner radically calls into question the traditional status of art and invites the public a poetic perception, without any limits. Here, everything is possible, the art work becomes plural and plays off of its ambivalences: visible/invisible; tangible/intangible, sending us back to a cascade of mental and material interpretations.
