- 58cm. 22¾in. high
2¼-inch enamel dial signed Leroy à Paris, similarly signed square-plated movement with silk suspension and concealed winding, striking on a remote gong in the base while appearing to strike a bell at the top, the case formed as a ruined chapel tower, the lower section with open gothic arches revealing a blacksmith's workshop with three automatom figures shoeing a horse, beating a shoe on the anvil and operating the bellows for the fire with moving flames, all driven by a separate key-wound movement, the action accompanied by a pull-wound musical movement with 2½-inch pinned cylinder playing one of two tunes, the automaton features and the music operated by a knob to the side, the whole raised on a giltwood plinth containing the music and automaton mechanisms
