A large and attractive French Empire ormolu sculptural mantel clock, circa 1800

9.5-cm enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Pienot père à Paris, Breguet hand, countwheel bell striking movement with pinwheel escapement and silk suspended pendulum, moulded stepped case with trophy mount surmounted by a philosopher's buste flanked by the well sculpted and chiselled figure of a Greek warrior, on the other side a column with a sphere and a shield, rectangular base with a classical relief, acanthus moulded plinth raised on claw feet, bronzework of good quality
