An attractive French Directoire ormolu and marble striking mantel regulator, Jacquet à Paris, circa 1790

13.5-cm enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals, gilt five minute marking and red inner date numerals, ormolu lined skeletonized centre, pierced and engraved gilt hands, blued sweep seconds and date pointer, flat bottomed movement with pinwheel escapement mounted on the backplate, countwheel striking on a bell, silk suspended pendulum with fine ormolu sunburst bob, ormolu frame with eagle and garland cresting, a shaped blue enamel signature plaque below the dial signed Jacquet A Paris, on two arched engine turned supports with moulded fluted bases, rectangular red marble base with pearl rim and applied classcal high relief with putti playing on clouds, the whole raised on bun feet
