12.5-cm enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Ch.les Le Roy, Breguet hands, movement with anchor escpament and countwheel striking on bell, silk suspended pendulum, stepped ormolu case covered by a drape with a griffins and scroll mount surmounted by books, a well cast and chiselled patinated bronze figure of a classical lady personifying STUDY leaning on the books, stepped ormolu base incorporating a high relief depicting putti studying and performing the arts, plinth with acanthus relief moulding raised on bun feet
