- Height 56cm
15-cm enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer five minute marking signed Gudin A Paris, fine foliate pierced and engraved hands, flat bottomed movement with verge escapement and silk suspended pendulum, pull quarter repeating on a bell, fine ormolu case surmounted by a genus sitting between scrolling flowers, further scrolls to the engraved trellis sides with flower garlands, the glazed lenticle above a scolled base with trellis and further flowers
Catalogue Note
he signature probably refers to Jacques-Jérôme Gudin who became master clockmaker in 1750. Lazare Duvaux the Jeweller of Louis XV used his movements for his works. Lit.; Tardy, Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français, pp. 279.
