- Height 6.5cm
7.5-cm gilt brass dial with well engraved season spandrels, 5-cm silvered engraved chapter ring with Roman numerals, single hour hand and foliate engraved alarm disc, knobs for alarm set and striking adjustment, movement signed J.H. Reinhold with square brass pillars and finely engraved foliate pierced cocks mounted on the backplate, fusee and chain going train with verge escapement and plain brass balance, countwheel striking on a bell, foliate pierced and engraved striking gate and spring barrel, alarm on a bell, square moulded gilt brass case with foliate engraved border, oval glazed panels to the sides, raised on foliate pierced and engraved bracket feet
Catalogue Note
Janus Hans Reinhold the younger was born in 1587 in Augsburg. Son of Johann Reinhold a very famous and accomplished clockmaker. He is recorded being married in 1619, the same year that he became independent as clockmaker. He died before 1639. Lit.; Jürgen Abeler, Meister der Uhrmacherkunst, pp.508.
