13-cm enamel dial with Arabic numerals signed in blue Ch.Les Bertrand H.ger DE....R.el DES SCIENCES, outer five minute marking and gilt minute marks, fine gilt and engraved fleur-de-lis hands and steel alarm pointer, anchor movement with silk suspended pendulum, pull quarter repeating and pull-wind alarm on two bells, fine ormolu annular concave case with oval engravings and pearl rim, surmounted by a pendant ring

Catalogue Note

Joseph-Charles-Paul Bertrand was clockmaker for the Royal Academy of Sciences between 1787 and 1789. The signature should read Ch.les Bertrand H.ger de l'Académie R.le Des Sciences. Lit.; Tardy, Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français, pp.55.
