Catalogue Note
Johan Franco (1908-1988) arranged three exhibitions for Sanyu from 1932 to 1934. The first exhibition was held at J. H de Bois Gallery in Haarlem, Holland in October 1932, the second and the third were both at Kunstzaal Van Lier in Amsterdam, one ran from 13 to 31 May, 1933, and the other from 14 April to 3 May, 1934. This painting was purchased by the present owner's grandfather from Kunstzaal Van Lier in the 1930s.
