"The Chinese Hand series completed in 1995 immediately combined its stylized images with Gaudy Art. It was a time when the consumerism society has just pushed Gaudy Art and popular taste to the limelight, the dense, flamboyant images of the hands, carrying features of Buddhist art, was in fact an ironic approach to solemnity. Thus, the ironic implication injected into Li Luming's New Image theory has made his work an indispensable part in Gaudy Art."
